Sam & Ruby
Sam Brooker and Ruby Amanfu began their music careers independently. Ruby, was born in Ghana, West Africa, before moving with her musically inclined family to Nashville, Tennessee when she was three. She started writing music around the age of 10 and recorded her first record while in high school. Ruby left Berkley College of Music during her sophomore year to pursue a career in music full time. She recorded a Top 5 charted pop album, Smoke and Honey, while in the UK.
Sam grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin and played in a band while in high school and college. A CD created while in high school got Sam’s voice noticed in Nashville. He began recording demos and playing at writer’s nights throughout town. Ruby happened to attend one of Sam’s shows and the story of their music together continues from there.
Sam and Ruby began writing songs together and performing at each other’s shows. They continue to grow as a duo and are set to release an album this fall along with having one of their hit songs appear on the soundtrack of the new movie, “The Secret Life of Bees”.
