I am a full-time nursing student and 25-year-old single mom. My husband left me and moved out of state. Because I do not work full-time, my daughter and I remain uninsured. I cannot afford what it would cost to put my daughter in child care if I were to work full-time, nor would I be able to find time to study for nursing school. So, I work just enough to make my car payment. I have applied to Medicaid who told me they would help me if I made less than $160 a month. I currently make $230 a month. On top of this, I have recently learned that it's very likely I have cancer, but I cannot afford to see a doctor to confirm this.
