Last September I began having chronic back pains that became unbearable if I sat, stood or laid down for more than 30 minutes at a time. When I found out the pain was due to two ruptured disks and the beginning of degenerative disk disease, I was forced to quit my job. Currently, I cannot find a job that will provide me with affordable insurance. As an electromechanical engineer, my husband's insurance costs $1,000 out of pocket. Adding me to his insurance would raise that cost to $3,000 - an unreasonable amount when doctor's appointments, home IV's and hospitalization fees are totaled. Because of these expenses, I had to stop going to the chiropractor in January and, unfortunately I still remain uninsured.
