On February 12, 2007, while on my way to work, I was hit by another motorist who took an illegal left turn. My multiple injuries forced me out of work for over three months without pay. When I returned to work, I found that teaching two-year old children was too physically demanding for my injuries, and was forced to quit. The cost of my health care coverage soon skyrocketed and I had no choice but to let it expire. To this day, my injuries from my accident still have not been treated which keeps me from working. I have searched and searched, but I cannot find affordable insurance. Being uninsured is like walking on thin ice and praying it doesn’t break. We are in desperate need of a change in the American Health Care System.
