At the age of 18, I am a part-time worker and full-time college student. I suffer from an extreme abdominal pain that my doctors cannot find the cause of. My mother passed away when I was three months old. I was then adopted by my fraternal grandmother. Until a few months ago, my medications were covered by my mother's social security and my grandfather's railroad retirement money. But since then, I have visited the ER three times and had numerous tests run. I am no longer covered by my family and as a college student, I cannot afford alternative healthcare insurance.
