I am 62 years old and my wife is 54. We have two children: an eight-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old son. For nine years I worked as a manager for a company that closed in March of 2008. Since then, I have not found a job that will cover my family with health insurance. We have been denied state health care assistance for our children. In desperation, I have begun to receive early retirement benefits from social security. This allows me to provide my family with housing and food, but there is not enough to cover any of us with health care. In three years I will be eligible for Medicare, but this will not cover my children. All we want is to acquire meaningful health coverage just for our children.
